Trail write-ups for my dayhiking since 2010. Most of these were near my home in the San Gabriel Valley. However, I spent Fall 2011 living in Murray, Kentucky, so there's a large collection of hikes from Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area (KY and TN), and the drive between LA and KY. I also hike a lot in southern Nevada and southern Utah. Each hike used to be organized by year, but I ran out of pages. I should reorganize, but haven't, yet.

Hiking Bengal Cat
Since I can't hike, I'm spending a lot of time at the computer. On a visit to the Facebook page for Motion, I followed a link to a Youtube video (embedded, above) of a semi-famous, hiking Bengal cat.
I like cats, but I could never get our cats to walk in a harness. They just sort of figured if they couldn't walk freely, they weren't going to walk, at all.
I enjoy Motion, as well. In the L.A. area, it airs M-F at 8pm on Channel 7.2. It turns up at various times during the weekend, as well. Greg Aiello is living the dream!
Bengal cats must just like hiking. Here's a YouTube of a different one, named Charlie.
ReplyDeleteNo, the video isn't of *my* cat; it's just something cute I found on the Internet. I did have an adventurous cat who I thought would like to go hiking, but, as noted above, he'd just lay down and sulk when ever we took him outside with a harness on, so he never got to go anywhere fun.
ReplyDeleteI was just amazed that these guys on youtube had cats that seemed really happy exploring the foothills with their owners. I wish my cat could have had that experience; his nickname was "Adventure Boy." Each time we moved, he was always the first out, trying to get to know his new home, poking his nose into every nook and cranny, climbing up ladders, exploring the attic crawlspace.
His brother, by contrast, hated change. He hid under the bed for a couple of days after our last move because there was a ceiling fat, and every time he crawled out and saw that scary thing above him, ready to swoop down and eat him (I assume he thought), he shot back under the bed. I wound up having to remove the fan blades, so no ceiling fan for me. Grumble.
On a somewhat unrelated note, Motion now airs seven days a week, at 7pm, on Channel 7.2.
Got an old picture of my adventurous cat, "Doc," on this post, here. He died, just over three years ago.
