It's here. Saturday, April 16 marked the kickoff for National Park week meaning free admission to national parks and other federal land areas that charge an admission fee (including areas covered by the Adventure Pass in southern California's National Forests). Any time through next Sunday, entry fees are waived. Camping fees, cave tours, and other special fees will still apply.
Definitely going to do my best to make a trip to Joshua Tree some time this week. Since I broke down and bought the Adventure Pass last week, I'll wait until next week or after to return to those local fee areas.
